TOPIC: LAYING IT ALL ASIDE TO SERVE

BIBLE TEXT: He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel ……… and began to wash the disciple’s feet – John 13 vs. 4 – 5

They would never forget this night. Jesus alone had the right to be called Master, but HE laid it aside to serve. Paul said “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus …….. Who took the form of a servant” (Philippians 2 vs. 5 – 7).

The secret of great ministry lies in what we lay aside to respond to God’s call. Laying aside things we most enjoy, laying aside the comforts of home to go where His name hasn’t been heard. Things we enjoy the most, to experience those that few will ever know.

There are evangelists, pastors and workers, who never sold a tape or write a book, never drew a picture of a crowd, nor gained national fame, but they paid the price. Like Noah, whose membership never exceeded eight souls, they ministered faithfully. They wanted to do more, and they thought they would go further. But they laid it all aside to serve the few. They said, “If I am not called to help everybody, then please God let me help somebody”. Child of God, ask yourself today, “Am I willing to lay it all aside to follow Him?”

Prayer: Jesus give me the grace to lay aside all to serve you.

Insight: It’s one of the most important question you will ever answer.
