LEARNING TO PRAY

JULY 2ND – CAPSULE 2

TOPIC: LEARNING TO PRAY

BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 6 vs 9 – After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father …….

When you say, “Our Father” you are acknowledging you belong to God's family, and that includes all the rights and privileges that go with it. Have you learnt what they are yet? One of the first words most babies said is, “daddy”. Knowing your father, helps you understand your own identity as a son or daughter. I need to know who my father is, and how He feels about me. If you have an abusive father, or one who wasn’t there when you needed him, it will take you sometime to believe, and act on the fact that God is your loving Heavenly Father, and you can come to Him anytime, day or night, and He will be there for you.

Prayer is just talking with the one you call ‘Father’. So, why don’t we spend more time talking to Him? One reason is, that while His love draws me – His Holiness intimidates me. When Isaiah saw the Lord, he cried, “Woe is me for I am undone” (Isaiah 6 vs 5). Have you ever felt that way? I have. Thank God David saw His compassion and said, “Like as a Father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him” (Psalm 103 vs 13).

All of us long to be understood. Its exhausting to be around people who audit your every move and demands that you qualify every statement. But, “Our Father” isn’t like that. We don’t have to labour to create what’s already there. He knows what your speech and silence suggest, and sometimes you can say it all in just two words – “Heavenly Father”.

Prayer: Help me and teach me how to pray.

Insight: Take a few moment and pray today.

THINKING GOD’S WAY

JULY 9TH – CAPSULE 9  TOPIC: THINKING GOD’S WAY  BIBLE TEXT: EPHESIANS 4VS23 – Be renewed in the spirit of your mind. How you process information and arrive at conclusions must always be subject to the will of God. Listen, “……….be made new in the attitude of your minds”. When you first start thinking Gods way, it will feel strange to you. It may even feel like a “put-on”. But it’s not. It works like this: you have to  (a). Practice being nice until you automatically become nice.  (b). Practice going to church on Sunday, until going anywhere else seems strange to you.  (c). Practice giving to God until it be comes as natural to you as shopping at the mall.  (d). Practice speaking the truth until even the smallest lie tastes bad in your mouth.  (e). Practice speaking kindness until every cynical, negative word is purged from your vocabulary. Its all a matter of practice! But you ask, “ isn’t that hypocritical – feeling one way and speaking an...

The Narrow Path

DATE : September 12, 2021 TOPIC : The Narrow Path BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 7v13&14 – Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. The road to eternity is a narrow path, with a single choice. There are no alternatives into eternity. It is either you walk through the narrow way into heaven or you follow the broad path that leads men (souls) to hell fire. God sent His only Son to die for mankind, creating the way, the truth and the life, to all who believe in Christ Jesus. It is either you make a choice to follow Jesus or you walk straight into hell. Many are searching for this path in the wrong direction, places, traditions, customs, beliefs and religions but cannot find it there. Only those that hear about the Kingdom of Heaven coming soon and believe in Jesus Christ shal...

The Song of Victory

DATE 7th March, 2023 TOPIC The Song of Victory LIVING SCRIPTURE Exodus 15:1 KJV Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. When God turns situations around for our good we become like them that dream and our mouths are filled with laughter and a new song. On that day Israel was liberated and totally delivered from the hands of the Egyptian tasks masters and Pharaoh's cruelty by the victorious hand of God. Heaven was on their side, as the sword of the LORD pierced through the red sea and it parted making the waters form two pillars and a passage of dry ground for the children of God to walk through. The most amazing thing that happened that day was how God worked miracles and war tactics. He carried the Israelites that were trekking through the passage safely and sustained the Egyptian soldiers and riders with no pa...
