DECISIONS

AUGUST 14th - CAPSULE 14

TOPIC: DECISIONS

BIBLE TEXT - Joshua 24 vs. 15 (NIV) – Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.

What you are today is determined by the decisions you made yesterday. If you want to change your future, learn how to make better decisions today.

Here are a few principles to guide you:
1. Never make a permanent decision about a temporary situation. When the smoke clears, you’ll regret it.

2. Never let your emotions blind your reasoning. Weigh things prayerfully, and base your decisions on mature judgment.

3. Surround yourself with wise people and draw on their gifts. Without being intimidated by their expertise.

4. Take the time to consider all options. What looks good today may not look so good tomorrow.

5. You can’t fight successfully on every front, so choose your battles carefully. Don’t go into a battle where there are no spoils.

6. Get all the facts; conjecture leads to crisis.

7. Consider the consequences of each option, and ask yourself, “Am I ready to handle them right now?”

8. Make sure your expectations don’t exceed your potential and resources. Be realistic. If you can’t sing, don’t cut an album.

9. Time is your most limited and valuable resource. Don’t waste it.

10. Allow yourself a 10% risk of being wrong, a 50% likelihood of betrayal and a 100% commitment to survive it all.

Prayer: Lord, give me power to make right decisions in my life and destiny.

Holy Spirit, have your way in every decision I make.

Insight: So today, whom will you choose to serve?!

Capsule One - (WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY?)

May 1st – Capsule 1 TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY? BIBLE TEXT: Let us lay aside every weight and sin which easily beset us … Hebrews 12 vs. 1 You will start getting well when getting well is what matters most to you. Let your desperation drive you beyond concern about the opinions of others. As long as you are more conscious of people than you are of God, you will never get what you need. When Hannah, Samuel’s mother, prayed in the temple, there was so much locked inside her that when she began to pray and pour her heart out, Eli thought she was drunk (see 1 Samuel 1 vs. 13). God is raising up people who will confound us – radical Christians. Like those on the day of Pentecost, they were hungry for God. They will raise the roof to get to Jesus. They had carefully laid plans, and cry like blind Bartimaeus, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10 vs. 47). When you are blind, all that matters is receiving your sight. When it looks like there’s no way out fo...

DO TI NOW

May 11th – Capsule 11 TOPIC : DO IT NOW BIBLE TEXT : Redeeming the time, because the days are evil – Ephesians 5 vs. 16 How many times have you said, “I will do it tomorrow?” sometimes you put somethings off because you don’t think you know enough, can’t do it well enough. The fact is, there is no magic age at which excellence emerges and quality suddenly surfaces. Thomas Jefferson was 33 when he drafted the Declaration of Independence. Charles Dickens was 24 when he began his Pickwick Papers, and 25 when he wrote Oliver Twist. Newton was 24 when he formulated The Law of Gravity. A second danger is to think that creativity and invention belong to the young. Not so! Emmanuel Kant wrote his finest philosophical work at age 74. Verdi at 80 produced crossing the Bar, and Michelangelo completed his greatest work at 87, Moses was 80 when he led God’s people out of Egypt and 120 when he got to Canaan. Seize the day! Redeem the new moments of your life. Because the time and age ...
