THE HABIT OF LYING

AUGUST 17th - CAPSULE 17

TOPIC: THE HABIT OF LYING

BIBLE TEXT: Colossians 3 vs. 9 – Lie not one to another. Seeing that we have put off the old man with his deeds.

Lying makes a problem part of the future; truth makes it a part of the past. You see, when you tell the truth you never have to remember what you said; no one has a good enough memory to be a successful liar! A lie may seems to be the easy way out. But even if it solves your present problem, it creates future ones that blur your vision, cause you to lose confidence before God in prayer, and eventually cost you the respect of others. Even worse, your present lies can only be defended by future lies.

The ninth commandment summarized says – “Thou shalt not lie”, and is often the most difficult to keep. Have you ever told a lie to spare someone’s feeling, avoid confrontation, or make yourself look better?

One writer says it this way: “Hope built on a lie is always the beginning of loss”. Never attempt to build anything on a foundation of lies and half-truths. It will not stand. If you want to walk with confidence towards God, ask Him to give you the courage to always walk in truth.

Prayer: Lord, give me courage to walk in truth all the days of my life

What makes it difficult in my life to tell and walk in truth, die! In Jesus name.

Insight: Remember, anything less than the truth distorts God’s plan, and leads you into places where He never meant you to be.

Comments

  1. Lord I ask for the Grace to say the truth no matter the situation in Jesus name.

Capsule One - (WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY?)

May 1st – Capsule 1 TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY? BIBLE TEXT: Let us lay aside every weight and sin which easily beset us … Hebrews 12 vs. 1 You will start getting well when getting well is what matters most to you. Let your desperation drive you beyond concern about the opinions of others. As long as you are more conscious of people than you are of God, you will never get what you need. When Hannah, Samuel’s mother, prayed in the temple, there was so much locked inside her that when she began to pray and pour her heart out, Eli thought she was drunk (see 1 Samuel 1 vs. 13). God is raising up people who will confound us – radical Christians. Like those on the day of Pentecost, they were hungry for God. They will raise the roof to get to Jesus. They had carefully laid plans, and cry like blind Bartimaeus, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10 vs. 47). When you are blind, all that matters is receiving your sight. When it looks like there’s no way out fo...

DO TI NOW

May 11th – Capsule 11 TOPIC : DO IT NOW BIBLE TEXT : Redeeming the time, because the days are evil – Ephesians 5 vs. 16 How many times have you said, “I will do it tomorrow?” sometimes you put somethings off because you don’t think you know enough, can’t do it well enough. The fact is, there is no magic age at which excellence emerges and quality suddenly surfaces. Thomas Jefferson was 33 when he drafted the Declaration of Independence. Charles Dickens was 24 when he began his Pickwick Papers, and 25 when he wrote Oliver Twist. Newton was 24 when he formulated The Law of Gravity. A second danger is to think that creativity and invention belong to the young. Not so! Emmanuel Kant wrote his finest philosophical work at age 74. Verdi at 80 produced crossing the Bar, and Michelangelo completed his greatest work at 87, Moses was 80 when he led God’s people out of Egypt and 120 when he got to Canaan. Seize the day! Redeem the new moments of your life. Because the time and age ...

Sinner to Saint

Date 📅 20th October, 2022 Topic Sinner to Saint Living Scripture Romans 3:23 KJV For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; The journey of our convertion and transfiguration started when we decided to let go of our self and old ways and tune into the will of God by accepting Christ as Lord and Savior. Our Lord Jesus Christ is in the business of turning sinners to saints. Because of the fall of man from the beginning it was written that all mankind have sinned and come short of the supply of God's mighty glory. Which is why Christ Jesus died that we might be heirs and like heirs with Him in the kingdom of God. Without Jesus no one can be saved, all men without the knowledge and salvation of Christ are sinners. No man was born a saint, we are washed from stains, sins and disobedience into saints (children of God). The Bible is not full of men born as saints but rather men and women washed by the Blood of the Lamb of God and by the Word of God. Father Abrah...
