SEVEN TIMES A DAY

DATE: NOVEMBER 8th, 2021

TOPIC: SEVEN TIMES A DAY

BIBLE TEXT: “Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.” Luke 17:4

Think about how many times we ask God for forgiveness. Better yet, think about how many times we should ask God for forgiveness. We mess up in countless ways every day. Yet every time we turn to God with sincere repentance, he forgives us and wipes our slates clean.

Of course, if we keep doing the same thing over and over again, there may be reason to doubt that we’re actually repentant. But if we make a genuine effort to change each time we repent, God will forgive us.

How can we, then, deny forgiveness to people who have hurt us? Our standards can’t be higher than God’s. If he forgives us, we must forgive others. If the person keeps doing the same thing over and over to us, we might doubt whether he or she is actually repentant. We might have to put some boundaries in place in that relationship. But our responsibility as followers of Christ is to forgive.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for not setting a limit on the number of times you will forgive us. Give us the patience and strength to forgive people who hurt us. Let us be examples of your forgiveness. Amen.

INSIGHT
A life of forgiveness is a life of peace.

Capsule One - (WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY?)

May 1st – Capsule 1 TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY? BIBLE TEXT: Let us lay aside every weight and sin which easily beset us … Hebrews 12 vs. 1 You will start getting well when getting well is what matters most to you. Let your desperation drive you beyond concern about the opinions of others. As long as you are more conscious of people than you are of God, you will never get what you need. When Hannah, Samuel’s mother, prayed in the temple, there was so much locked inside her that when she began to pray and pour her heart out, Eli thought she was drunk (see 1 Samuel 1 vs. 13). God is raising up people who will confound us – radical Christians. Like those on the day of Pentecost, they were hungry for God. They will raise the roof to get to Jesus. They had carefully laid plans, and cry like blind Bartimaeus, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10 vs. 47). When you are blind, all that matters is receiving your sight. When it looks like there’s no way out fo...

DO TI NOW

May 11th – Capsule 11 TOPIC : DO IT NOW BIBLE TEXT : Redeeming the time, because the days are evil – Ephesians 5 vs. 16 How many times have you said, “I will do it tomorrow?” sometimes you put somethings off because you don’t think you know enough, can’t do it well enough. The fact is, there is no magic age at which excellence emerges and quality suddenly surfaces. Thomas Jefferson was 33 when he drafted the Declaration of Independence. Charles Dickens was 24 when he began his Pickwick Papers, and 25 when he wrote Oliver Twist. Newton was 24 when he formulated The Law of Gravity. A second danger is to think that creativity and invention belong to the young. Not so! Emmanuel Kant wrote his finest philosophical work at age 74. Verdi at 80 produced crossing the Bar, and Michelangelo completed his greatest work at 87, Moses was 80 when he led God’s people out of Egypt and 120 when he got to Canaan. Seize the day! Redeem the new moments of your life. Because the time and age ...
