THE SERPENT

TOPIC - THE SERPENT

BIBLE TEXT - Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?” …”You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” -
Genesis 3:1,4-5

Satan appears in the Garden of Eden to tempt Eve to sin. He does this by introducing doubt. He causes Eve to doubt God and her understanding of God’s Word. He also accuses God of lying, and he promises Eve a reward for her sin.

Satan works in much the same way today. He does various things to cause us to doubt ourselves, to doubt the reality of God and to doubt our understanding of the Bible. He spread lies—lies that contradict God’s Word. He also promises rewards for our sins. Satan promises that sin will make us happy, that sin will allow us to have fun, that sin will make us rich, that sin will make us popular.

Sometimes, there are rewards for sin, but they are short-lived and never worth the cost of the sin. Eve’s eyes were opened, and she did receive the knowledge of good and evil. But at what cost? All creation fell into sin because of her and Adam’s sin.

Satan will continue to tempt us throughout our lives, but we never have to give in to him. We have God on our side, and God is far more powerful than Satan.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank you for protecting us from Satan and his lies. Please help us to stay strong in our faith. Please protect us from Satan’s temptations. Amen.

INSIGHT
Greater is He that is in you - learn to trust the Lord and avoid talking to Satan.

Comments

MARY, DID YOU KNOW?

Date - December 19th, 2021 Topic - MARY, DID YOU KNOW? Bible Text - But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.” - Luke 1:30-31 If God had asked the women of Israel who wanted to be the mother of the Messiah, every one of them would have raised her hand. If they had known what that privilege would actually involve—becoming pregnant before marriage, enduring terrible gossip, watching helplessly as their Son was mocked, ridiculed, tortured and crucified—those hands would have come down in a hurry. Mary certainly didn’t volunteer for the job. And she was stunned to discover she’d been selected for such an important role. She handled the extraordinary situation with grace and humility. She asked one question to help her understand God’s plan, then agreed to it immediately. God has a plan for each of us. Ours may not be as earth-shattering as Mary’s. Ou...

I Know Him

Date - January 25th, 2022 Topic - I Know Him Bible Tex t - Then [Jesus] asked them, “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”Matthew 16:15-16 How can people describe the ocean when they have not experienced it? How would they explain the waves that crash against the rocks or the shifting of the sand as the tide tugs at the shoreline? Are they able to put into words how the sand feels between their toes or describe the majesty of an endless blue horizon? Until they have taken a dip in the salty, white-frothed ocean, their descriptions would be limited. Perhaps that is why Jesus asked the disciples to define their faith in him on a personal level rather than rely on what others had to say about him. Jesus challenged them to base their definition of who he was on the reality of what they had seen, heard, and experienced about him.  Today, many stand in public platforms and attempt to define Jesus as a good man, a teach...

Inside Jesus

DATE 28th June, 2023 TOPIC Inside Jesus LIVING SCRIPTURE John 15:4 KJV Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. Inside Jesus Christ the Lamb of God is where we must dwell. Just like a baby is carried in the womb of her mother for months, so must all God's children follow. The anchor scripture reveals that we must abide inside the cleft or riven side of Jesus Christ just as He also dwells inside us. No child of God or minister should ever think that he or she is sufficient or has attained a certain height in Christ Jesus to stand alone or even abide by themselves.  Our productivity of bearing fruits in this world either by evangelism, good deeds, love or any action can only be possible when we are intimate with Christ as He is with us. Without Christ Jesus inside us we cannot or it is impossible to grow spiritually and physically. Inside Christ Jesus contains all life's resources and...
