A Tale of Two Sons

Topic - A Tale of Two Sons

Bible Text - [Jesus said,] “What do you think about this? A man with two sons told the older boy, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ The son answered, ‘No, I won’t go,’ but later he changed his mind and went anyway. Then the father told the other son, ‘You go,’ and he said, ‘Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go.” - Matthew 21:28-30

In the parable of the two sons it seems that both sons were disobedient. One offered eloquent promises, but his actions revealed a heartbeat of rebellion. The other son was openly defiant but later realized his error (“changed his mind”) and returned to work in the vineyard. Jesus was teaching his disciples that they should not base their opinion merely on outward appearances, for there is no protective facade when we stand before an omnipotent Father.

There is also a second lesson in this parable. Just as God discerns deceitful or rebellious hearts, he also recognizes those who return to him with broken and repentant spirits. Do you know people who have walked away from God’s calling on their lives? If you look only at outward appearances, you may be tempted to give up on them. But don’t write them off spiritually or distance yourself from them. Pray for them. Ask God to fill you with his love for them and to give you spiritual eyes that see them from his perspective. Believe that God is able to renew their hearts and save them. Ask the Holy Spirit to draw them back, and anticipate the day when they will turn away from disobedience and return to the arms of their Father.

PRAYER
LORD, help me to obey you wherever you lead me. I lift up those who have turned away from you. I believe, Lord, that you are able to draw them back to your heart, but help my unbelief. Help me to persevere in prayer and to stand in the gap until they turn to you as their Father.

INSIGHT
There is nothing that makes us love a man so much as praying for him. See with the eyes of God the true nature of everyman.

Capsule One - (WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY?)

May 1st – Capsule 1 TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY? BIBLE TEXT: Let us lay aside every weight and sin which easily beset us … Hebrews 12 vs. 1 You will start getting well when getting well is what matters most to you. Let your desperation drive you beyond concern about the opinions of others. As long as you are more conscious of people than you are of God, you will never get what you need. When Hannah, Samuel’s mother, prayed in the temple, there was so much locked inside her that when she began to pray and pour her heart out, Eli thought she was drunk (see 1 Samuel 1 vs. 13). God is raising up people who will confound us – radical Christians. Like those on the day of Pentecost, they were hungry for God. They will raise the roof to get to Jesus. They had carefully laid plans, and cry like blind Bartimaeus, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10 vs. 47). When you are blind, all that matters is receiving your sight. When it looks like there’s no way out fo...

THE GRACE OF GOD

Date 📅 26th October, 2022 Topic The Grace of God Living Scripture 1 Corinthians 15:10 KJV But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. The grace of God is very important to everyone both saved and unsaved though as many as believe in Christ Jesus receives of the grace and truth at work in the Lord. This is what sustains us as children of God throughout our lifetime here on earth. God's grace for the world is general but limited and that for His children comes only in Christ Jesus, for as many that want to partake of this kind of grace must be born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit. This brought about the testimony of brother Saul turned Apostle Paul who testified to be the least of all the Apostles and disciples of Christ. He was a persecutor of the gospel a child of Abraham under the common grace but not under the g...
