On the Brink of Burnout

Topic - On the Brink of Burnout

Bible Text - “This is not good!” his father-in-law exclaimed. “You’re going to wear yourself out—and the people, too. This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself.” - Exodus 18:17-18

Moses not only led thousands of people in a hostile environment but also served as judge in every argument, small or large. When Moses’ father-in-law saw that Moses stood all day listening to the minor complaints of the people, he counseled him to slow down before he burned out. Moses wisely heeded the advice and delegated tasks to other capable leaders. This allowed him not only to rest in body but also to refresh himself spiritually so that he could accomplish the calling God had laid on his heart.

Sometimes we get caught in the same trap as Moses. It is easy to convince ourselves that no one can do the job quite like we can. Yet delegation is the most effective form of leadership. It fosters maturity in potential leaders and provides a wider foundation of talents for meeting diverse needs. Have you allowed others to share the joys and burdens of ministry, or are you wearing yourself out with a burden too heavy for you to handle all by yourself? Working as part of a team helps you to retain the pleasure of ministering to others without finding yourself exhausted and on the brink of burnout.

PRAYER
• DEAR GOD, when I try to do things by myself, I am easily overwhelmed. Sometimes I’m tempted to give up because I am so tired. Give me the wisdom to listen to the wise counsel of others as Moses did.

• Thank you for always hearing me and for having all the answers even before I know what questions to ask! Help me to share my burden with others and to stop trying to do it all alone.

INSIGHT
A burden shared is a lighter load.

Capsule One - (WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY?)

May 1st – Capsule 1 TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY? BIBLE TEXT: Let us lay aside every weight and sin which easily beset us … Hebrews 12 vs. 1 You will start getting well when getting well is what matters most to you. Let your desperation drive you beyond concern about the opinions of others. As long as you are more conscious of people than you are of God, you will never get what you need. When Hannah, Samuel’s mother, prayed in the temple, there was so much locked inside her that when she began to pray and pour her heart out, Eli thought she was drunk (see 1 Samuel 1 vs. 13). God is raising up people who will confound us – radical Christians. Like those on the day of Pentecost, they were hungry for God. They will raise the roof to get to Jesus. They had carefully laid plans, and cry like blind Bartimaeus, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10 vs. 47). When you are blind, all that matters is receiving your sight. When it looks like there’s no way out fo...

FELLOWSHIP

Date 📅 24th November, 2022 Topic Fellowship (koinonia) Living Scripture Matthew 18:20 KJV For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Wherever believers are gathered in the name of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, there the Lord comes to fellowship. In heaven the celestials cease not to give due worship to God and the LAMB of God, it's a constant tradition of divine communion and fellowship. It is not every gathering that men calls Jesus Christ that he attends, the scripture states that these candidates for fellowship must be in the name of Jesus Christ. They must be saved to even think of gathering for the purpose of intimacy and fellowship. Two thieves were hung up on the cross with the person of Christ, but only one that repented and believed in the Kingdom of Heaven and Christ, that received attention from Jesus. To gather in fellowship with the Lord as a family this morning, we must all be in Him. Our devotion will not be c...

No Weakness In Heaven

Date 📅 14th October, 2022 Topic No Weakness In Heaven Living Scripture Matthew 5:48 KJV Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Heaven is a place to dream about, a place where our Heavenly Father dwells. It is not the skies we see or the galaxy of wide space we watch on the satellite and internet. The Bible records that Heaven is God's throne, a place where there are innumerable hosts of angels serving the LORD. There's no weakness in God's presence, for His glory and power radiates through the whole existence. Every biblical angel as described are very powerful and well coordinated. So is everyone born of God. Our Lord Jesus Christ came from Heaven and taught us what Heaven is like. And all the illustrations given in the four gospel of Christ were full of maturity and perfection. God wants us to be like Him that's why we are made in His image and glory though resident here on earth but of the commonwealth of Heaven. Wit...
