Inherit the Wind

TOPIC - Inherit the Wind

BIBLE TEXT - Those who bring trouble on their families inherit only the wind. The fool will be a servant to the wise. - Proverbs 11:29

It’s not difficult to imagine receiving your grandmother’s treasures or a piece of vintage from your grandpa, but what would it be like to inherit the wind? Think about it!

It sounds grand until you consider the magnitude of the gift you received as a result of ignorance and arrogance. The wind is forceful, unruly, and can strike without warning. It may only whisk your hat off your head, but it also has the power to send ships careening off course. It goes where it wishes, whipping the small, the fragile, and the unrestrained where it will.

We risk danger when we open the door and allow trouble to march in to our homes. Unwelcome guests with names such as unrestrained anger or petty arguments can whip through our homes and drive family members apart. Selfishness nudges joy out the window as love and kindness and gentleness fall to the ground like brittle, dead leaves.

Our families were intended to be a sanctuary—a safe place for each of us. We all face trouble from time to time, but it should never be because we willingly allow it into our homes. Instead, let your home be characterized by a legacy of kindness, godly character, and faith. Choose today to bring good things to your family and to leave trouble outside the door.

PRAYER
FATHER, my loved ones are precious to me. I want them to inherit more than the wind. Forgive me for the times when I have allowed uninvited guests into my home. Help me to keep rage and petty arguments and selfishness far away.

If I have willingly brought trouble to my family, help me to make amends. I don’t want the destructive wind of trouble to invade my home and family. I invite the gentle breeze of your Spirit to abide in us.

INSIGHT
Let your home be your parish, your children your congregation, your living room a sanctuary, and your knee a sacred altar.

Capsule One - (WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY?)

May 1st – Capsule 1 TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY? BIBLE TEXT: Let us lay aside every weight and sin which easily beset us … Hebrews 12 vs. 1 You will start getting well when getting well is what matters most to you. Let your desperation drive you beyond concern about the opinions of others. As long as you are more conscious of people than you are of God, you will never get what you need. When Hannah, Samuel’s mother, prayed in the temple, there was so much locked inside her that when she began to pray and pour her heart out, Eli thought she was drunk (see 1 Samuel 1 vs. 13). God is raising up people who will confound us – radical Christians. Like those on the day of Pentecost, they were hungry for God. They will raise the roof to get to Jesus. They had carefully laid plans, and cry like blind Bartimaeus, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10 vs. 47). When you are blind, all that matters is receiving your sight. When it looks like there’s no way out fo...

Sinner to Saint

Date 📅 20th October, 2022 Topic Sinner to Saint Living Scripture Romans 3:23 KJV For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; The journey of our convertion and transfiguration started when we decided to let go of our self and old ways and tune into the will of God by accepting Christ as Lord and Savior. Our Lord Jesus Christ is in the business of turning sinners to saints. Because of the fall of man from the beginning it was written that all mankind have sinned and come short of the supply of God's mighty glory. Which is why Christ Jesus died that we might be heirs and like heirs with Him in the kingdom of God. Without Jesus no one can be saved, all men without the knowledge and salvation of Christ are sinners. No man was born a saint, we are washed from stains, sins and disobedience into saints (children of God). The Bible is not full of men born as saints but rather men and women washed by the Blood of the Lamb of God and by the Word of God. Father Abrah...

DO TI NOW

May 11th – Capsule 11 TOPIC : DO IT NOW BIBLE TEXT : Redeeming the time, because the days are evil – Ephesians 5 vs. 16 How many times have you said, “I will do it tomorrow?” sometimes you put somethings off because you don’t think you know enough, can’t do it well enough. The fact is, there is no magic age at which excellence emerges and quality suddenly surfaces. Thomas Jefferson was 33 when he drafted the Declaration of Independence. Charles Dickens was 24 when he began his Pickwick Papers, and 25 when he wrote Oliver Twist. Newton was 24 when he formulated The Law of Gravity. A second danger is to think that creativity and invention belong to the young. Not so! Emmanuel Kant wrote his finest philosophical work at age 74. Verdi at 80 produced crossing the Bar, and Michelangelo completed his greatest work at 87, Moses was 80 when he led God’s people out of Egypt and 120 when he got to Canaan. Seize the day! Redeem the new moments of your life. Because the time and age ...
