The Path of Life

TOPIC - The Path of Life

BIBLE TEXT - How sweet are your words to my taste; they are sweeter than honey. Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life. Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise again: I will obey your wonderful laws. - Psalm 119:103-106

In this portion of Psalm 119 we can join the psalmist in thanking God for his Word, not only because it gives us understanding and discernment we would otherwise lack but because through it God provides light for every aspect of our lives—relationships, families, careers, ministries. The Word is vital if we are to walk in confidence and faith in Christ. It guides us into discovering God’s plan for us and helps us to keep away from false ways of life.

The darker the world around us grows, the more important it is to follow God’s light and obey his Word. We rarely get a giant searchlight on the future or a panorama of what lies ahead. Instead, God leads us with just the light we need to move forward and make a decision, to take the next step. As we read these verses today, let us commit ourselves to following God’s Word as the psalmist did. In it we will find the path of life.

PRAYER
LORD, I want to delight in your Word, to obey it, and to commit myself to walking in the light it provides. I praise you that your Word lights the path at my feet so that I don’t have to wander in the darkness. Guide me today with your wonderful Word.

INSIGHT
In all my perplexities and distresses, the Bible has never failed to give me light and strength.

THINKING GOD’S WAY

JULY 9TH – CAPSULE 9  TOPIC: THINKING GOD’S WAY  BIBLE TEXT: EPHESIANS 4VS23 – Be renewed in the spirit of your mind. How you process information and arrive at conclusions must always be subject to the will of God. Listen, “……….be made new in the attitude of your minds”. When you first start thinking Gods way, it will feel strange to you. It may even feel like a “put-on”. But it’s not. It works like this: you have to  (a). Practice being nice until you automatically become nice.  (b). Practice going to church on Sunday, until going anywhere else seems strange to you.  (c). Practice giving to God until it be comes as natural to you as shopping at the mall.  (d). Practice speaking the truth until even the smallest lie tastes bad in your mouth.  (e). Practice speaking kindness until every cynical, negative word is purged from your vocabulary. Its all a matter of practice! But you ask, “ isn’t that hypocritical – feeling one way and speaking an...

IT RUBS OFF

AUGUST 9th - CAPSULE 9 TOPIC: IT RUBS OFF BIBLE TEXT: Exodus 34 vs. 29 – His face glowed from being in the presence of God. You can only talk convincingly about the God you know, the one you’ve spent time with. Any other God belongs in a theology book, and you will have a hard time selling Him. When Moses came down from the mountain, his face shone. He had been in God’s presence, and when you’ve been there it shows in the way you look, the way you walk and talk, the way you treat your family, the way you spend your money and the way you respond to hurting people. It rubs off!   Paul Cain says “most of us are as close to God as we want to be”. Think about it “Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you” (James 4 vs. 8). How could you possibly be the same when you’ve been with Him? He transforms everything He touches. Listen – He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91 vs. 1). He didn’t say “visit” or...

LORD Forgive Me

DATE - February 10TH, 2022 TOPIC - LORD Forgive Me BIBLE TEXT - When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. - Psalm 32:3-4 There are many reasons that we hide our sin from God. It might be that we don’t want to face our shortcomings or that we are ashamed. Unconfessed sin weighs heavily on us because we do not have the means to forgive our own sins. Rest assured that God seeks us when our sin separates us from him. The Holy Spirit follows us into the hidden places to draw us back to a place of safety. The wonderful thing is that we don’t have to run from God when we have fallen short of his standards. He paid a costly price—the sacrifice of his own Son— to redeem us from our sins. Wouldn’t it be better to run to him and lay our sins at his feet than to continue to carry such a heavy burden?  Take a few moments and allow God free rein in your heart. Ask him to reveal any...
