Barnabas, an Encourager

TOPIC - Barnabas, an Encourager

BIBLE TEXT - When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to meet with the believers, but they were all afraid of him. . . . Then Barnabas brought him to the apostles and told them how Saul had seen the Lord on the way to Damascus. Barnabas also told them what the Lord had said to Saul and how he boldly preached in the name of Jesus in Damascus. - Acts 9:26-27

Barnabas had the God-given ability to see and understand what the Lord was doing around him. Just as Joshua and Caleb saw the potential in the land God had promised to give to his people, Barnabas saw with spiritual eyes something of God’s potential in Saul, a former enemy who had zealously persecuted believers before he met Christ on the road to Damascus. When the other believers feared Saul, rejected his ministry, and pointed their fingers at him, Barnabas spoke up in Saul’s defense and declared what God had deposited in him.

He continued to be a peacemaker and a bridge between Saul and the apostles, and eventually the believers embraced Saul and welcomed him into their fellowship. Thus, God’s kingdom would be extended throughout Judea and the world. Are you like Barnabas—an encourager? If you’re willing, you could be just the person God uses to help someone in trouble. You could be the bridge of divine grace in another’s spiritual journey.

PRAYER
LORD, I want to be an encourager like Barnabas. Help me to see others with your eyes. Give me the vision to see the potential you’ve deposited in them. Fill me with courage to stand with those who are in trouble and need my help or defense. Make me a bridge of encouragement from your heart to the hearts of others.

INSIGHT
Every time we encourage someone we give them a transfusion of courage.

THINKING GOD’S WAY

JULY 9TH – CAPSULE 9  TOPIC: THINKING GOD’S WAY  BIBLE TEXT: EPHESIANS 4VS23 – Be renewed in the spirit of your mind. How you process information and arrive at conclusions must always be subject to the will of God. Listen, “……….be made new in the attitude of your minds”. When you first start thinking Gods way, it will feel strange to you. It may even feel like a “put-on”. But it’s not. It works like this: you have to  (a). Practice being nice until you automatically become nice.  (b). Practice going to church on Sunday, until going anywhere else seems strange to you.  (c). Practice giving to God until it be comes as natural to you as shopping at the mall.  (d). Practice speaking the truth until even the smallest lie tastes bad in your mouth.  (e). Practice speaking kindness until every cynical, negative word is purged from your vocabulary. Its all a matter of practice! But you ask, “ isn’t that hypocritical – feeling one way and speaking an...

The Narrow Path

DATE : September 12, 2021 TOPIC : The Narrow Path BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 7v13&14 – Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. The road to eternity is a narrow path, with a single choice. There are no alternatives into eternity. It is either you walk through the narrow way into heaven or you follow the broad path that leads men (souls) to hell fire. God sent His only Son to die for mankind, creating the way, the truth and the life, to all who believe in Christ Jesus. It is either you make a choice to follow Jesus or you walk straight into hell. Many are searching for this path in the wrong direction, places, traditions, customs, beliefs and religions but cannot find it there. Only those that hear about the Kingdom of Heaven coming soon and believe in Jesus Christ shal...

IT RUBS OFF

AUGUST 9th - CAPSULE 9 TOPIC: IT RUBS OFF BIBLE TEXT: Exodus 34 vs. 29 – His face glowed from being in the presence of God. You can only talk convincingly about the God you know, the one you’ve spent time with. Any other God belongs in a theology book, and you will have a hard time selling Him. When Moses came down from the mountain, his face shone. He had been in God’s presence, and when you’ve been there it shows in the way you look, the way you walk and talk, the way you treat your family, the way you spend your money and the way you respond to hurting people. It rubs off!   Paul Cain says “most of us are as close to God as we want to be”. Think about it “Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you” (James 4 vs. 8). How could you possibly be the same when you’ve been with Him? He transforms everything He touches. Listen – He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91 vs. 1). He didn’t say “visit” or...
