Banishing Fear

DATE - July 6th, 2022

TOPIC - Banishing Fear

BIBLE TEXT - You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and wine. I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. - Psalm 4:7-8

The September 11 hijackings and terrorist assaults were a shock and a tragedy for USA and many nations. The magnitude of the attacks cut to the soul of Americans, bringing trauma and panic. The following summer, multiple children were abducted, some from their own homes . . . their own bedrooms. It would seem that the safety of the people of America has been under attack. Likewise various violence, death and destruction happening globally. Nigeria recently has suffered many attacks, religious fears, kidnapping, terrorism and political fears. In many people’s lives, fear has taken the place of peace and safety. Moms, dads, grandparents, and youth wonder, How can I ever feel safe and secure again?

Just as the psalmist reminds us in these verses that true joy is not based on our having an “abundant harvest of grain or wine” because joy comes from the Lord, peace and safety come from him as well. When we allow fear to govern our lives, it not only paralyzes us and undermines our faith, it also robs us of many things, including a peaceful night’s sleep. Just as joy comes from the Lord, peaceful sleep is a benefit and by-product of trusting in him.

PRAYER
HEAVENLY FATHER, wrap your arms around me and drive out any fear. When I’m afraid, help me to run to you. Thank you for keeping me safe and for providing me with the ability to lie down in peaceful sleep. Help me to always keep my mind focused on you—the source of my joy and peace.

INSIGHT
The better you become acquainted with God, the less tensions you feel and the more peace you possess.

Capsule One - (WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY?)

May 1st – Capsule 1 TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU WANT SO BADLY? BIBLE TEXT: Let us lay aside every weight and sin which easily beset us … Hebrews 12 vs. 1 You will start getting well when getting well is what matters most to you. Let your desperation drive you beyond concern about the opinions of others. As long as you are more conscious of people than you are of God, you will never get what you need. When Hannah, Samuel’s mother, prayed in the temple, there was so much locked inside her that when she began to pray and pour her heart out, Eli thought she was drunk (see 1 Samuel 1 vs. 13). God is raising up people who will confound us – radical Christians. Like those on the day of Pentecost, they were hungry for God. They will raise the roof to get to Jesus. They had carefully laid plans, and cry like blind Bartimaeus, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10 vs. 47). When you are blind, all that matters is receiving your sight. When it looks like there’s no way out fo...

THE GRACE OF GOD

Date 📅 26th October, 2022 Topic The Grace of God Living Scripture 1 Corinthians 15:10 KJV But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. The grace of God is very important to everyone both saved and unsaved though as many as believe in Christ Jesus receives of the grace and truth at work in the Lord. This is what sustains us as children of God throughout our lifetime here on earth. God's grace for the world is general but limited and that for His children comes only in Christ Jesus, for as many that want to partake of this kind of grace must be born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit. This brought about the testimony of brother Saul turned Apostle Paul who testified to be the least of all the Apostles and disciples of Christ. He was a persecutor of the gospel a child of Abraham under the common grace but not under the g...
