1 Samuel 23:1-2 KJV
Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors. [2] Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.



David the son of Jesse was a very meticulous man who carefully ensured that every step he took was backed up by his master, the LORD. He waited for the voice of the LORD before acting which made him to be victorious and ahead of his enemies. This action of David is an expression of what every believer in Christ Jesus should do, stop thinking for yourself and trusting in men than the creator and savior of the world. Jesus waits to lead us into victory but are we willing like David to follow God's instructions!

David used an ephod from the priestly garments which served as a means or medium to reach out to the LORD. At the time Christ Jesus had not died nor the Holy Spirit given to men at pentecost, so David used the garment of anointed priest of God. Today we don't need to look for an ephod because we have Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit in us and with us. Glory to God who gave us access to receive directly from Him direction, instructions, guidance, comfort and everything we may desire according to His perfect will in Christ Jesus.

Let us learn to trust in the Lord, He has never lost nor failed and He will never mislead His children. He is the good Shepherd that cares intentionally for His sheep. Retrace your steps this morning and enquiry of the Lord the way in Christ, the purpose in Christ, the truth in Christ and surrender all to Him, let the Holy Spirit lead you all the way. Your testimony will resound and live on when you walk with the Lord.

• O LORD God of Israel, my Father thy child seeks your mercy and grace, please help me and lead me by the Holy Spirit.

You can only talk convincingly about the God you know, the one you’ve spent time with. Any other God belongs in a theology book, and you will have a hard time selling Him. Anxiety can be likened to a big wave that washes over you and stops you dead in your works. It can paralyze you and take away everything good in your life. If you let it control you, you’ll do nothing, say nothing and end up feeling like nothing. When you think about it, worry in silly! (And dangerous) – It means you are not trusting God to carry out the promises He has made to you.
