But his only Son, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart; he has told us about him. - John 1:18 When Jesus came on the stage of history, the majority of Jews did not perceive or receive him as the revelation of God the Father. The Gnostics refused to believe that deity would manifest itself in a human body because they believed that matter is evil. It is just as easy for us to have faulty ideas about God. If we base our view of God on the media’s opinions or on what liberal professors say about him, we will have an incorrect picture. If our opinions about God are the result of pain left over from childhood or from our experience with an unloving or absent earthly father, we may see him through a dark filter and not accept his love for us.  But God revealed himself in his Son. DATE - April 29th, 2022 TOPIC - Golden Promises BIBLE TEXT - [Jesus told them,] “Now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” - Luke 24:49 Before Jesus sent out the disciples to take the message of the gospel to all the nations, he assured them of his promise to send the Holy Spirit. That promise motivated them to continue with one accord in prayer (Acts 1:14). God’s promises are provided to stir us and inspire us to pray. Those precious promises—there are hundreds throughout the Bible—show us things God has purposed and wants us to ask for, just as he wanted the disciples to ask for the Holy Spirit so they would have power for ministry.  These golden promises teach us about how to pray, and they build our faith. “If I am to have faith when I pray,” said American evangelist R. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength. Therefore, tell the people, ‘Whoever is timid or afraid may leave and go home.’” Twenty-two thousand of them went home, leaving only ten thousand who were willing to fight. But the Lord told Gideon, “There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will sort out who will go with you and who will not.” - Judges 7:2-4 The odds were against Gideon’s winning the war. He had only thirty-two thousand men. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. - Psalm 96:1-3 Every day we cross paths with someone who needs to hear the good news that the Lord saves. We can never fully plumb the depths of God’s character and attributes, but with every day and every experience we can discover new facets about God, new songs to sing to him. To “publish” means to share and that refers not only to writing books and delivering sermons about God but also to sharing what the Lord has done in our own lives so that others might be drawn to him. DATE - April 25th, 2022 TOPIC - Obeying Anyway BIBLE TEXT - [Jesus prayed,] “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine.” Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood. - Luke 22:42-44 As Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, his sweat fell like drops of blood. Only Luke’s Gospel recounts this. But Luke was a physician, so he understood the physical agony this represented and recorded it in the Gospel. Modern-day doctors describe this sweating-of-blood phenomenon as a physical reaction to extreme psychological stress. Jesus faced an agonizing choice that night. The suffering that he was to endure was not a result of his own wrongdoing, for he was without sin. DATE - 23rd April, 2022 TOPIC - Give Thanks BIBLE TEXT - John 6:11 KJV And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. One common habit of Jesus Christ as stated in the holy scripture was that, He always gave thanks. Looking at the situation at that time, many would have also loved to feed such a huge crowd but it would be difficult and nearly impossible with human efforts and resources. Christ knew that God our Heavenly Father cares so much for His children. The same God who fed millions of Israelites in the wilderness for forty years will do much more in every situation and in our lives. He believed in the Father and knew that nothing is impossible for God to do. Thanksgiving brings about a heart-rooted appreciation as touching the goodness and mercies of the Lord in our lives.
