God Revealed

DATE - April 30th, 2022 TOPIC - God Revealed BIBLE TEXT - No one has ever seen God. But his only Son, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart; he has told us about him. - John 1:18 When Jesus came on the stage of history, the majority of Jews did not perceive or receive him as the revelation of God the Father. The Gnostics refused to believe that deity would manifest itself in a human body because they believed that matter is evil. It is just as easy for us to have faulty ideas about God. If we base our view of God on the media’s opinions or on what liberal professors say about him, we will have an incorrect picture. If our opinions about God are the result of pain left over from childhood or from our experience with an unloving or absent earthly father, we may see him through a dark filter and not accept his love for us.  But God revealed himself in his Son. And his Word is his love letter to us, calling us to come home to his heart. Jesus declared who God is

Golden Promises

DATE - April 29th, 2022 TOPIC - Golden Promises BIBLE TEXT - [Jesus told them,] “Now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” - Luke 24:49 Before Jesus sent out the disciples to take the message of the gospel to all the nations, he assured them of his promise to send the Holy Spirit. That promise motivated them to continue with one accord in prayer (Acts 1:14). God’s promises are provided to stir us and inspire us to pray. Those precious promises—there are hundreds throughout the Bible—show us things God has purposed and wants us to ask for, just as he wanted the disciples to ask for the Holy Spirit so they would have power for ministry.  These golden promises teach us about how to pray, and they build our faith. “If I am to have faith when I pray,” said American evangelist R. A. Torrey, “I must find some promise in the Word of God on which to rest my faith. . . .

Answered Prayer

Date - April 28th, 2022 Topic - Answered Prayer  Bible Text -The Lord is king! Let the nations tremble! He sits on his throne between the cherubim. Let the whole earth quake! The Lord sits in majesty in Jerusalem, supreme above all the nations. Let them praise your great and awesome name. Your name is holy! . . . Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel also called on his name. They cried to the Lord for help, and he answered them. - Psalm 99:1-3, 6 God is worthy of our praise, and in Psalm 99 the psalmist encourages us to praise God for two reasons: for his essential character—his greatness, majesty, and radiant holiness—and because he has designed and initiated prayer as a means of blessing, restoring, and helping his people. While the holy God sits in majesty, he calls us into an intimate relationship with him and chooses to work in this world through our prayers.  He invites us to call to him, and he answers our call and shows us great and mighty things that we do

Impossible Odds

DATE - April 27th, 2022 TOPIC - Impossible Odds BIBLE TEXT - The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength. Therefore, tell the people, ‘Whoever is timid or afraid may leave and go home.’” Twenty-two thousand of them went home, leaving only ten thousand who were willing to fight. But the Lord told Gideon, “There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will sort out who will go with you and who will not.” - Judges 7:2-4 The odds were against Gideon’s winning the war. He had only thirty-two thousand men. The Midianites— the enemy—were as numerous as locusts. Imagine Gideon’s surprise when God asked him to whittle down his army by twenty-two thousand. Surely winning was impossible! But God tested Gideon’s faith even further by asking him to use only the men who lapped up water like dogs.  Now only three hundred men rema

Sing a New Song

DATE - April 26th, 2022 TOPIC - Sing a New Song BIBLE TEXT - Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Sing to the Lord; bless his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. - Psalm 96:1-3 Every day we cross paths with someone who needs to hear the good news that the Lord saves. We can never fully plumb the depths of God’s character and attributes, but with every day and every experience we can discover new facets about God, new songs to sing to him. To “publish” means to share and that refers not only to writing books and delivering sermons about God but also to sharing what the Lord has done in our own lives so that others might be drawn to him. Each of us can purpose to do that.  The most powerful evangelism doesn’t take place within the four walls of a church building. It occurs as we share with others in our neighborhood and workplace the

Obeying Anyway

DATE - April 25th, 2022 TOPIC - Obeying Anyway BIBLE TEXT - [Jesus prayed,] “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine.” Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood. - Luke 22:42-44 As Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, his sweat fell like drops of blood. Only Luke’s Gospel recounts this. But Luke was a physician, so he understood the physical agony this represented and recorded it in the Gospel. Modern-day doctors describe this sweating-of-blood phenomenon as a physical reaction to extreme psychological stress. Jesus faced an agonizing choice that night. The suffering that he was to endure was not a result of his own wrongdoing, for he was without sin. He could have called ten thousand angels to whisk him away, yet he gave his life rather than give in to his own anguish. Sometimes

Give Thanks

DATE - 23rd April, 2022 TOPIC - Give Thanks BIBLE TEXT - John 6:11 KJV And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. One common habit of Jesus Christ as stated in the holy scripture was that, He always gave thanks. Looking at the situation at that time, many would have also loved to feed such a huge crowd but it would be difficult and nearly impossible with human efforts and resources. Christ knew that God our Heavenly Father cares so much for His children. The same God who fed millions of Israelites in the wilderness for forty years will do much more in every situation and in our lives. He believed in the Father and knew that nothing is impossible for God to do. Thanksgiving brings about a heart-rooted appreciation as touching the goodness and mercies of the Lord in our lives. In John 14:41 Jesus gave thanks as a sign of confidence

Give Place to the Holy Ghost

DATE - 22nd April, 2022 TOPIC - Give Place to the Holy Ghost BIBLE Text - Romans 8:14 KJV For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. The Holy Ghost is an executive leader in the body of Christ. The scripture reads; as many as are led (Directed, Informed, Instructed, Guided, Influenced, Accompanied, and Comforted) by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God (Children of God). We need to understand the place of the Spirit of God in our lives. Many of us fail to walk in this truth and are led away by the things we give place to due to our lust. Which separates us from the plans of our Father. Our Lord Jesus Christ was led by the Holy Spirit through His journey to the cross. He walked as He was directed; Spoke as He was informed; Comforted at all times; and acted as He was instructed. He walked in the light of God because He gave place to the Holy Spirit. The Bible reveals to us how our Lord Jesus Christ was led by the Holy Spirit into the wild

Be Patient

DATE - 21st April, 2022 TOPIC - Be Patient  BIBLE TEXT - James 5:7 KJV Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. When the Son of man (Jesus Christ) comes (returns) will He find faith here on earth? (Luke 18:8b) This question reveals how so many saints on the last day will be found wanting for their lack of patience and faith in the Lord. We are instructed to be patient with an expectation of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our patience must be carried along with righteous expectations/desires as the scripture says - Proverbs 10:24b KJV ..but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. Yes! God will grant our righteous desires as we wait on Him daily. The most beautiful and lasting relationships takes a lot of time. To trust takes time. To raise a solid foundation takes time. To be a mature Christia

Wisdom

DATE - April 20th, 2022 TOPIC - Wisdom BIBLE TEXT - James 1:5 KJV If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. As children of God, wisdom is principal in our daily dealings. James the half brother of Jesus Christ, as inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote to the church on obtaining Heavenly wisdom. We are to ask our Heavenly Father for wisdom to function. A good example scripturally of a man who asked for it and prospered by it was King Solomon in 1Kings Chapter 3. 1 Kings 3:9 KJV Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? The request of King Solomon pleased the LORD because Solomon recognized the giver and keeper. And his request was granted according to what he asked for and even more (Ephesians 3:20). Many situation around our lives require the wisdom of God. We need to g

Rocks Won’t Take My Place

DATE - April 19th, 2022 TOPIC - Rocks Won’t Take My Place! BIBLE TEXT - Some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!” He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!” - Luke 19:39-40 When Jesus, on the back of a colt, rode past the crowd, the disciples broke into enthusiastic shouts of praise. They believed their Messiah deserved a crown, but the crown of thorns that lay ahead was not what they envisioned. Perhaps the disciples did not fully understand the majesty of Jesus, but their unabashed love for him was a balm as he prepared for the events ahead.  The Pharisees were embarrassed by this loud display of affection and attempted to quiet the disciples. But Christ rebuked the Pharisees and pointed to the stones on the ground. He announced that even they would burst into cheers if his followers failed to praise him.  Can you imagine a rock breaking out in a hymn or song? What

Seek and Save the Lost

DATE - April 18th, 2022 TOPIC - Seek and Save the Lost BIBLE TEXT - Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a son of Abraham. And I, the Son of Man, have come to seek and save those like him who are lost.” - Luke 19:9-10 Zacchaeus was a Jewish tax collector with both wealth and influence. What prompted a prominent man like him to perch in a tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus? Was it only his short stature? Whatever the reasons, we do know that his life was forever changed the moment he met Christ. When the crowd looked into the branches of the tree, they saw a despised tax collector, but Jesus saw a son of Abraham. The people saw a sinner, but Jesus saw a potential friend. Even as Jesus was approaching the day of his death, he continued to seek and save those who were lost.   He sought out Zacchaeus by pushing through the crowd to speak to him. He reached out and befriended him by inviting himself to dinner. He gave Zac

Through the Eyes of a Child

DATE - April 16th, 2022 TOPIC - Through the Eyes of a Child BIBLE TEXT - Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you, anyone who doesn’t have their kind of faith will never get into the Kingdom of God.” - Luke 18:16-17 When children discover a new treasure, they are not content to simply look at it. They touch, smell, and explore it. With wide-eyed delight and much excitement, they share the treasure with others. Even if the “treasure” is a creepy crawling insect or a wide-eyed toad, it’s beautiful to the one who found it! As adults we sometimes miss the joy of experiencing the treasures that surround us. One of those treasures is our faith. As time passes, we might forget our first love for God or even take our faith for granted. Our lives become busy and complicated, and it becomes easy to get caught up in what we think are more “important” matters.

Pilgrimage

DATE - April 15th, 2022 TOPIC - Pilgrimage BIBLE TEXT - How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty. I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God. - Psalm 84:1-2 Because we can worship God anyplace and anytime, we might fail to understand the psalmist’s longing. In Old Testament times a person made a pilgrimage to worship God. It was a yearly event and often involved a lengthy journey. That is why the psalmist sang of a dwelling place where he could be in the presence of the Lord. It’s why he expressed a desire to be even a lowly gatekeeper in God’s house (v. 10) so that he could worship God every single day! We have available to us what the psalmist could only hope for.  When Christ hung on the cross, the heavy veil separating the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple ripped from top to bottom. This symbolic act shouted to the world that believers were no longer

Godly Counsel

DATE - April 14th, 2022 TOPIC - Godly Counsel BIBLE TEXT - “This bread was hot from the ovens when we left. But now, as you can see, it is dry and moldy. These wineskins were new when we filled them, but now they are old and cracked. And our clothing and sandals are worn out from our long, hard trip.” So the Israelite leaders examined their bread, but they did not consult the Lord. Then Joshua went ahead and signed a peace treaty with them, and the leaders of Israel ratified their agreement with a binding oath. Three days later, the facts came out—these people of Gibeon lived nearby! - Joshua 9:12-16 On the surface the evidence seemed to match the travelers’ story. Their wineskins were tattered, and their clothing and sandals were worn. Their bread was moldy. They certainly looked as if they had traveled a great distance. Their story seemed so authentic that the Israelite leaders entered into an unbreakable covenant with them. But the leaders had forgotten to seek the co

Are You a Good Steward

DATE - April 13th, 2022 TOPIC - Are You a Good Steward? BIBLE TEXT - [Jesus said,] “Unless you are faithful in small matters, you won’t be faithful in large ones. If you cheat even a little, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” - Luke 16:10 Each day we make decisions about matters that seem small. If a cashier gives us too much change, it may be only a few change, but the larger issue is honesty. Our use of time in the workplace may not seem all that important, but the larger issues are integrity and loyalty. It’s how we handle the “small” details of life that define our character.  God wants us to be faithful stewards, not just with resources such as our time, money, or talent, but in our work ethic, our business dealings, and in everyday details that affect others. The steward in the parable Jesus told in Luke 16 was not diligent with his employer’s money until he realized that he might lose his job and be forced to beg. His irresponsibility became relev

Forgiveness of Sins

DATE - April 7th, 2022 TOPIC - Forgiveness of Sins BIBLE TEXT - Acts 5:31 AMP God exalted Him to His right hand as Prince and Savior and Deliverer, in order to grant repentance to Israel, and [to grant] forgiveness of sins. Apostle Peter stood tall before the council (Sanhedrin, Jewish High Court) to speak with boldness about a God who Saves and sets free any sinner from the power of sin. As a man who has been shown mercy though a man once filled with sinful ways, the Holy Spirit quickened him through his personal testimony of experiencing true forgiveness of sins before the Jewish High Court. Peter was a local fisherman with no knowledge of the gospel truth, who lived as he pleased. Until he encountered Jesus when Christ was walking by the sea of Galilee and he spotted Simon Peter who was in his boat struggling to catch a few fishes for days. Like many out there today who are living in sin and still struggling to make ends meet, Jesus is passing through that street, area

The Head and Not the Tail

DATE - April 5th, 2022 TOPIC - The Head and Not the Tail BIBLE TEXT - If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God and carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always have the upper hand. You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today to follow after other gods and worship them. - Deuteronomy 28:13-14 When reading Deuteronomy 28, it is pleasant to focus on the blessings in Moses’ message, yet we cannot avoid the fact that there were two sides to this oracle. Blessings would rain on the children of Israel as a result of their obedience, but harsh consequences awaited those who served other gods. It is hard to imagine a compassionate God raining down such curses on his children, for we know that God longed to bless his people.  When the children of Israel turned from God, they would return to him only when they realized that they had placed themselves under the yoke of a far less benevolent master. Th

One True Work

DATE - April 4th, 2022 TOPIC - One True Work BIBLE TEXT - [Jesus said,] “There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it—and I won’t take it away from her.” - Luke 10:42 In the story of Mary and Martha we see not only how busy Martha is with preparations for dinner but also her frustration because Mary is sitting with Jesus instead of helping her. However, as much as Martha yearned for her sister’s help, her words to the Lord indicate an even greater problem: she could not control Mary. She went to the Lord saying, “Tell her to come and help me,” in hopes that he would get Mary to do as Martha wanted. So often, the Martha in us tries to control another person’s choices, especially if we would benefit in some way, but we find ourselves in the same flustered state Martha was in. Mary wisely chose listening to the Lord over any service she may have done for him at that particular time. She was also living beyond her sister’s control and wa

The Harvest Is Here

DATE : April 2nd, 2022 TOPIC : The Harvest Is Here BIBLE TEXT - These were [Jesus’]instructions to them: “The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. Pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest, and ask him to send out more workers for his fields. Go now.” - Luke 10:2-3 Jesus selected seventy of his disciples and sent them out in pairs in order to strengthen their witness and give them fellowship as they traveled. He gave them specific instructions—travel light, take no extra baggage, and be cautious because they were embarking on dangerous work—like lambs evangelizing among wolves; their preaching mission was urgent, so they were to make haste and focus on spreading the good news of the kingdom, healing the sick, and delivering the oppressed. Jesus also urged them to pray for more workers, for the harvest was great. Those instructions still apply to us today. God doesn’t want anyone to perish; he wants all to hear the gospel and have eternal life. All over t
